The Humane Education Network’s mission is to promote the ethical treatment of animals through education and supporting effective policies and legislation. We provide information on the use and care of animals in the development of human health interventions, entertainment, and animal husbandry, as well as information on animal heroes, wild animals and legislation and policies governing animal welfare.

In Memoriam
Sylvia M. Bancroft
May 8th, 2010

We mourn the passing of Sylvia Bancroft, our principal founding member, Director and Board Member, who worked tirelessly on behalf of animals for much of her life. She was the driving force behind the Animal Protection Information Service, a resource for animal welfare advocates working to influence legislation to ensure the humane treatment of animals, often working late into the night, seven days a week, refusing to yield to the challenges of a body no longer able to keep up with her passion for the work. With Sylvia’s passing, all animals have lost a dedicated and energetic voice. R.I.P.

Did you know? Veal calves are chained to crates so confining they cannot even turn around.
